Steak Frites Files: The Deliciouser

Steak Frites at Deliciouser: A Willy Street Gem Worth Every Bite

If you know me, you know I take steak frites seriously. It's one of those dishes that sounds simple but tells you everything you need to know about a kitchen. So when we found ourselves in the Willy Street neighborhood before catching the very first Rally Madison game nearby, stopping at Deliciouser felt like the right call, plus we remember to actually bring and use our CityTins.

The Spot

Deliciouser sits in the heart of Willy Street, walking distance from iconic Madison venues like the Sylvee and Breeze Stevens Field. It's a unique concept — part spice shop, part restaurant, and they also host cooking classes, demonstrations, and events throughout the year. The vibe immediately tells you that the people behind this place genuinely care about flavor. That matters.

The Plate

I ordered the steak frites and got the steak medium well — a personal evolution, because I've been a well done girlie for most of my life (African father, iykyk). The presentation was beautiful, and what struck me first was the ratios. Steak, frites, salad, aioli — everything felt even and generous. And of course, well seasoned.

Now. I'm always excited about the inclusion of an aioli. I'm a big sauce and dip girlie. But I truly believe the best steak frites are the ones that don't need one — and Deliciouser's is exactly that. I was genuinely shocked at how flavorful the steak was on its own, but it makes sense given that spice is clearly this restaurant's wheelhouse.Which brings me to the fries. Absolutely superb, seasoned with their Creole Cottage spice blend.

I'm glad this is on their lunch menu, because I need it available at all times of the day.

The Verdict

Cohesively, this plate is a 10/10 and so are the individual components. Steak: 10. Frites: 10. Sauce: 10. Vibe: 10. Deliciouser is one you need to get to if you're in Madison.
