Back at Zafferano: What’s New (and What Isn’t)
We last visited Zafferano back in February 2023. Read our review here.
We were recently invited to try Zafferano’s new Summer menu.
Our experience:
Service was still slow, a bit frustrating because they controlled the reservations since they invited a large number of influencers to promote the new menu. One would think they would space out reservations to ensure smooth service. At times we thought they forgot about us because of the long wait in between courses and drinks , and it took more 10 minutes for us to even receive a menu. The ambiance was lovely, with them having hired a violinist to simulate their date night package but did not distract from our hunger. Once again, don’t come here ravenously hungry.
When we did get the food, it was tasty, with our favorites being the Mixed Tandoori Sizzler and the Chicken 65 Gnocchi, both of which we would order again.
Overall, Zafferano’s Summer menu shows real promise on the plate, but the dine-in experience still needs work. The Mixed Tandoori Sizzler and Chicken 65 Gnocchi alone are worth trying, and the violin added a nice touch to the evening. But service needs improvement. For now, we’ll keep doing what’s worked for us: ordering the Spaghetti and Spiced Lamb Meatballs, Chicken Biryani, and Saffron Lobster Ravioli to go, where the food consistently arrives fresh, fast, and exactly as expected.
