What to Eat Near East High and Shabazz High School
Truthfully I'm not on the east side for work, I'm there because that's where my hair appointments are. But every time I'm out that way, I end up scouting what's good to eat near the salon while I wait (or recover from four hours in the chair). So consider this your east (and north) side eating guide, courtesy of someone who shows up hungry and leaves with good hair.
Lunch -
Monty's Blue Plate Diner-Good old dining food with a seperate Vegan menu!
Banzo - Very satisfying Mediterranean food. Bonus if you snag their amazing hummus in a local grocery store.
Other Options-
Green Owl Cafe-Madison's only complete vegetarian and vegan restaurant
Madison Public Market-food hall with a variety of Madison favorites like empanadas and smash burgers
Willy Street Coop - I know, a grocery store. But here me out: the hot bar slaps, their guac is one of my favorites and when you can catch a poke bowl it’s pretty good. I usually get a roast beef sandwich and 3 pack of perfectly soft chocolate chip cookies.

Zippy Lube -Get some work done while enjoying coffee, donuts and fried chicken
