Cooking the Books: My America by Kwame Onwuachi
The recipes are certainly flavorful but quite fussy! Some ingredients are a little hard to source resulting in some online ordering which can further delay the cooking process. This is NOT a weeknight friendly cookbook, with many recipes being multi-day by the time you double marinade. It kind of felt like you need a saucier, because you will be making a ton of foundational sauces before you get to the main recipe, which is mostly worth it but can be a little frustrating. Overall the dishes will be flavorful but don’t think this is a quick and straightforward dinner cookbook. We did enjoy the multicultural aspect of the book, it really did feel like a great entry into understanding fusion cuisine as a concept.
