We Have Food at Home: June Week 2

We Have Food at Home: Weekly Meal Recap

Welcome to another week at Restaurant Adedoyin — that's what we call our kitchen when we're committed to cooking at home and actually doing it. This week was a good mix of cookbook wins, happy accidents, and one very celebratory Saturday night out. Here's what we ate.

Monday — Shrimp Scampi
We kicked off the week with Shrimp Scampi from the Better Homes and Gardens New Cookbook and though the recipe itself didn’t disappoint, I couldn’t seem to get the ration of sauce to pasta right, and ended up making an additional 2 batches of sauce because the pasta was a little dry. Bonus, I got to share this with my parents since my mom wanted more play time with Simon.

Tuesday — Galinhada
We had every intention of eating leftovers. Every. Intention. But we ate it all — so we pivoted and made Galinhada instead. No regrets. 🤷🏾‍♀️ We are doing some Cooking Around the World Cup content and needed a Brazilian recipe last minute, and chicken and rice is always the vibe in this house. This Galinhada recipe wasn’t intimidating at all, and I was able to pull it together with a quick grocery run afterwork and while solo parenting before Ade got home from work.

Wednesday — Leftovers
Wednesday came through with the actual leftovers situation. No complaints here.

Thursday — Cheeseburger Pizza
This was the highlight of the week. Cheeseburger Pizza from The Book of Pizza by King Arthur Baking Company. If you haven't looked into this cookbook yet, add it to your list immediately. I need to film or detailed review because we really enjoy this cookbook. I am usually really on it with making the dough the night before so that it has time to rise. This time however, I made it before my morning and coffee and let’s just say I needed to use that Baker’s Hotline because I accidentally used bread flour instead of regular flour. It turned out ok!!!

Saturday — Samba
We closed out the week celebrating a retirement, a birthday, AND Father's Day all at once at Samba. Because some weekends you cook, and some weeks you let someone else handle it. 🙌🏾

Save this for later and let me know in the comments — what was the best thing you ate this week?
